Our Shame

While visiting the blog of an adoptive mom I met in Ethiopia, I watched this video she had posted.

After watching it, I felt shame for the human race as a whole.

How can we treat one another like this???

How can our legal systems show such obvious discrimination???

With the world it seems, going mad, how do we raise our children to be well-adjusted individuals who don't see others by the colour of their skin, who don't even notice that difference ... is this possible????

When will this insanity end .... when will we see ourselves as world citizens, not black, white, yellow or red, Catholic or Protestant, Buddhist or Muslim...

I am reminded of the beautiful lyrics of John Lennon's Imagine.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one......
